Actors Talking About Civil Rights, 1963

What an interesting video, both because it features discussion of the civil rights movement (in the way of punditry) so recent to the events fo the early 60's and because it features actors, genuine Hollywood celebrities, discussing ideas and concepts like freedom and values and social justice in an intellgent and dignified way.

Here's Charleton Heston's entire opening remark;

"Two years ago, I picketed some restaurants in Oklahoma, but with that one exception, up until very recently, like most Americans, I expressed my support of civil rights largely by talking about it at cocktail parties, I'm afraid. But again, like most- many Americans this summer, I could no longer pay only lip service to a cause that was so urgenly right and in a time that was so urgently now."

Him and Brando, both. Class acts.
